Today, while monitoring the elementary school kids on my bus, I noticed Edward trying to grab food from Aditya. "Edward, if you aren't offered food, don't take it." "But I don't have any bus snacks." "Well, you should have your mom pack some for you, but you can't take other people's food." Out of the blue, Christopher, who is sitting in the row in front of Edward, pulls some graham crackers out of his lunchbox and offers them to Edward. "Graham crackers?" "No. I don't want 'em." Christopher goes fishing around in his lunchbox again, pulls out a pack of Pocky, and offers them to Edward. Edward takes them. At this point, I am amazed. Christopher is perhaps the most terribly ill behaved, inconsiderate brat I have ever met. I thank him genuinely and ask Edward to do the same. "Thank you, Christopher."

"I'm just doing it because I want more presents from Santa."

If children are our future, then I am very scared.
