Last Friday, we hit the road. DESTINATION: Hayden. We were overdue for a Family Gathering (formerly known as Camp Meeting) and met with various family members in the Rockies. Saturday was a day of drunken merriment, gaiety and fun. We sat in the shade of the cabin and talked about our summers, were told some very personal information by a drunken relative (ho ho), and had dinner and marshmallows. Before sundown, my dad, aunt and I wrangled some llamas that would be sent out on Monday and took them down to the lower cabin.
On Sunday morning, I woke relatively late and went to the upper cabin, only to find that it was a beehive of activity. I was appointed to be the master caulk smoother-outer. The west side of the cabin was this year's task and after a few rows of old caulking was chipped away, I followed dad's path with a foam brush. It was fun. I felt like a pro. When I wasn't working, I played with the newest member of our family who I had not met before Saturday. My, my, she is so very cute! I like 'em before they can talk.
By Monday, most everyone had left, so we had a quiet morning, had lunch with the remaining family members, and headed back west. It was a good weekend of llamas, babies, and family.
I have to leave in a week. I'm not ready for summer to be over. Although... I only have one more year of high school, so perhaps it's best to just bite my lip and get it over with. Eerrgh.
