I arrived safely in State College yesterday afternoon and was greeted at the airport by Michelle and Shut-Jaw Tessa. Everything feels so familiar, like it's been a lot less than two years since I was last here. It is, how do you say, surreal.

Last night, the jet-lag spirit came to me in the evening and I fell asleep in assorted places. I had a brief energy burst, unpacked, practiced myshamisen and went soundly to sleep. The spirit greeted me this morning at five, at which point I got a glass of water, went outside, pet some kitties, and enjoyed the weather. It's much warmer than I expected, which is a very pleasant surprise.

On a side note, the last day of the spring sumo season was AWESOME. Yokozuna Asashoryu and Ozeki, Hakuhou, were both 13-2 and had to face off to determine who won harubasho. In the last of his normal bouts, Asashoryu pulled a dodge and dunk on Chiotaikai. I can't remember the official name of the move, but it's generally frowned upon as being sort of cheap and dirty. So when Hakuhou performed the same move on Asashoryu in the championship bout and won, Asashoryu was laughing at his loss. Hakuhou got married pretty recently, so he was happy to win the first tournament of his married life. Huzzah for Mongolians.

Uhh, and I hate the TSA. They went through my suitcase and ripped up a number of plastic bags, threw my sneakers in without putting them back in the bag and yeah. All their employees at Washington Dulles are incredibly angry. "MISS! TURN OFF THE CELL PHONE! TURN IT OFF." Like he's on a mission from GOD to stop all cell phone use in immigration.
