Sunday, April 13

Oh my goodness. I had an awesome, fun, and fulfilling day yesterday.

Olive, Hannah, and I took the art department sponsored bus to New York City for a day-long adventure. And what an adventure it was. We were dropped off in front of the Met, where we met Luke, Olive's friend from home. Central Park was beautiful; everything was in or about to bloom and there were a lot of people outside enjoying the weather. We walked across the park to the American Museum of Natural History where we tried to cover as much ground as possible before our stomachs demanded our departure: Asian Mammals, Asian Peoples, Birds of the World, African Peoples, African Mammals, Reptiles and Amphibians, Dinosaurs, the Center for Earth and Space, Ocean Life, the Hall of Biodiversity, and the Hall of Planet Earth.

Led by our hungry 'tomachs, we took the subway downtown to Canal Street and got super-satisfying sandwiches in SoHo. After our delicious meal, we wandered around and went to some awesome stores, Evolution and the MoMA Design Store among them. We found a Pinkberry, where I had a delicious and refreshing frozen yogurt with mango and raspberries. I got a call from Greg, who had come to the city with his Classics class. He found us downtown and we wandered around the Lower-East until it was time to return to 5th Avenue to catch our bus. We hugged Luke goodbye and boarded the bus back to school.

The bus ride was as much fun as our day. We had a private party in the back row and, as the exhaustion of the day took over, talked about the rest of the school year and the summer. I am now much closer to having a phenomenal plan for the early summer; I'm hoping to stay near Boston for a few days, stay in a hostel in New York City to visit museums and explore the city for the rest of the week, and go to Pennsylvania for a week before going up to Ohio.

Registration and room selection are on Tuesday.

I am excited for the future.
