Monday, November 5

This weekend was uneventful and productive. One of my roommates had two friends over, so my dorm was in a perpetual slumber-party state. I slept on Sarah and Tess' window seat.

On Thursday, I realized that I had two papers due the following week and went to the art room to get my weekend assignments out of the way. I spent most of Friday in the library. Time goes incredibly fast there.

In the evening, I couldn't seem to find anyone around campus and eventually decided to check headquarters, which, when I stopped by before and listened to the door, was strangely silent for a weekend. I knocked, was let in, and realized that there was a group of people watching Cape Fear. I completely messed up the movie; the moment the creepy Robert De Niro character, wearing a dress, strangles a guy with piano wire, I accidentally stepped on the remote and stopped the movie. Outrage ensued.

We all went to the dining hall for dinner, after which the group split up. I played some pool with Henry and John in the lounge and then went to Brett's dorm to hang out with Brett, Sarah, Tess, Taylor, and Mike. Hanging out moved from Brett's to the woods to the SPA to Kevin's room and finally back to headquarters. It got late and was time for us to sleep. I made myself comfortable on the window seat and dozed off.

The next morning, I woke up at ten, had breakfast, and went to the library for five hours of research and organization. I don't remember what I did in the afternoon but in the evening, John, Henry, Nora and I watched Venture Bros. for a really long time. After John and Henry disappeared to a Wombats party, Nora and I went to the SPA, ran into some folks, and then decided to watch a movie. Since the Howe lounge was occupied, we went to the Jonsson tower, ran into some people also heading to the penthouse (read: fancy lounge), and walked into a surprise party, which was initiated when we came through the door. We ate some of their cheesecake and stuck around to watch American Psycho with the group. After parting ways with Nora, I returned to headquarters to find a sleepy Sarah, Taylor, Mike, and Brett, laying around and listening to music. Eventually, we agreed that it was time to sleep. When Sarah and I returned to her room, Tess and I had a brief discussion.

"Yo, who's that sleeping on the window seat?"
"Guess?" (Note: I slept on the window seat the night before.)
"Oh. Hey Mike."
"No... it's Saya."

Apparently, in her sleepy daze, she thought, not only that I sounded like Mike, but that I was Mike messing with her by saying I was Saya. It was ridiculous.

I woke to sunshine outside and checked my cellphone for the time, only to find that it was seven-thirty in the morning. Day light savings gave me an early start to do my readings for Tuesday, go downtown to buy Stephen Colbert's ridiculous new book, and work on my english paper, which, by midnight, I had almost finished. On Monday morning, I woke up, had breakfast, went to the library, and finished my conclusion before my 12:20 class. It was a good feeling.

In the evening, I arrived in the dish-room for work, as usual, where these two girls were doing my job at an alarmingly slow pace. Once they left, the full-time worker, Bill, told me how relieved he was to see me come in. When it was almost time for me to leave, he commended my good work and told me that he was sad to see me go. I'm so happy in the dish-room. I was seriously considering making a t-shirt that says "I'd rather be in the dish-room," but that would breech thus far unexplored reaches of ass-kissing.

I was planning to be productive this evening and FAILED. Instead, I have watched the pilot episode of Dexter. It's great. Henry just informed me that he has the first season on DVD, so I'll be taking advantage.
