Yesterday evening, after my second class, I headed downtown on the bus. My seminar was meeting at the mall at 4:20 to watch American Gangster, so I assumed an hour would be enough time to go to Borders, pick up my Venture Bros. Season 1 DVDs, and catch the bus to the mall. Unfortunately, the bus comes at the twelfth minute of every hour, so I stood at the bus stop for about forty minutes in the breezy chill of Saratoga fall. Jaime, another student in my seminar, showed up and we rode the bus to the mall together. By the time we got there, everyone had entered the theater and we had to pay for our own tickets. (Note: We will be reimbursed.)
The movie was baadasssss. It was well acted and visually phenom. Afterwards, Jaime and I stayed at the mall. He needed winter clothes (Being from Puerto Rico, he has none.) and I wanted a jump rope. We went to Old Navy, where I got my first long-sleeved button-up shirt, only to find that long-sleeved button-up shirts were in the clearance section for $7 a piece. In a highly excited state, I picked three and headed to the register. The lady behind the counter told me that I could get an additional 20% off by signing up for an Old Navy card. I filled out the necessary information and went to pay with my credit card.
"Oh no," she said, "it'll be billed to the one you just made."
"Wait," I said in a panic, "I thought it was just a membership card."
"The bill will be sent to you in the mail."
"I don't have a steady income and I definitely don't want an Old Navy credit card."
I asked her to cancel it and she said she couldn't from the store but gave me the information with the customer service phone number on it. Fortunately, she didn't know how to put the 20% back onto my purchase, so the time it took for me to make the card, then call and cancel it was worth $4. I hate sales-people.
We walked disgruntled from Old Navy with our bounty in hand. After a quick stop at Dick's to get a jump rope (I can exercise!!), we took the bus back to campus, where I joined Tyler, Tess, and Sarah to watch the humorless and poorly written second-half of Wag the Dog. We went to the Sketchies show, which was similarly disappointing. I headed home, jumped some rope, and went to sleep.
Tonight, Mia arrives and the unveiling party of Headquarters v1.5 goes down. I have to get a lot done today or Sunday night will be hell.
