I'm hesitant to post, since no one has commented *sniffle*, but I suppose I'm overdue.
This week has been HIP-HOP week for me. It all started when Jeannie burned me a rap mix. I was inspired and acquired some Lady Sovereign, MC Lars, went back to the rap I already had and developed a new sense of appreciation for the genre. In trying to memorize a number of tracks, my tongue has grown tired. My new favorite is The Roommate From Hell, which is an MC Lars piece about having the devil as your college roommate. MC Chris (Fett's Vette) is featured as Satan and it's pretty hilarious. "Until the break of dawn, he'd be mutilating sheep. It's four a.m., Satan, can you please go to sleep?!"
Umm, what else? My grandma's house helper took her monthly break and my Mam let me stay in the apartment on my own so I could go to school without having to ride the train. It was very nice, mainly because I didn't have to deal with Hell-Dog every morning.
The weather in Tokyo is fantastic. "Tomorrow will be colder than yesterday. Estimated high of 12°C (54°F), the average for a day in mid-April." I point and laugh at all of the places that aren't feeling the adverse effects of climate change.
Movie reviews since my last post:
Babel - Overrated. The connections were forced. I wasn't impressed. Taking The Queen out of consideration (the only nominee I haven't seen), I really hope Letters from Iwojima gets Best Picture.
Awakenings - Cheesy, Robin Williams (self-explanatory), but touching. It had a good message, which was much stronger, considering the crush on Robert DeNiro that I developed by the end of the movie.
Taxi Driver - I honestly haven't decided what I think yet. I suppose he was up against Peter Finch in Network that year, but he probably should have gotten an Oscar for that performance.
Half Nelson - Well made and approached the subject of race pretty well (compared to what I've heard of movies like Crash), but it didn't have much going on plot-wise. Good acting job by Ryan Gosling, which has him nominated for best actor.
Alright. I've gotta go apply to college. Apologies for the short entry.
