The start of the third year since my grandfather's passing is fast approaching. I just had a heartfelt conversation with my aunt, which prompted this post. This is an eThanks to my Japanese grandpa for what I consider to be a sacrifice. Had he not been diagnosed with cancer, I would not have stayed in Japan and spent a worthwhile three years at ASIJ. Hospital visits gave me a chance to get to know and spend time with him, something I had never done during summer visits.

I don't believe in afterlives, but here's hoping that the approach of his birthday and deathday will rekindle his existence in our memories.
