Oh my god. If I had posted at the beginning of this week, it would have been disastrous. You would have thought I was more crazy than I am or than I seem.
After easing into the world of hip-hop, I acquired almost everything that mc chris has ever recorded. It was no longer an "easing" as much as a violent plunge. I lost the attention span to listen to anything else and was constantly rapping at my friends and they said "nooo, when are you going to get over mc chris?" and I said "never, bitch!" Oh yeah. I found myself saying "bitch" a lot.
It's less unhealthy now but honestly, I'm still not over this phase. The obsession is just starting to taper off. With most other album acquisitions, I can listen to the CD its entirety once or twice and take in the majority of the information, but rap is jam-packed. If I had gotten one album every month, I could have memorized rhymes and gotten over twelve tracks at a time instead of thirty-some. I felt totally overwhelmed.
In any case, I have an appreciation for mc chris larger than that of MC Lars and Lady Sovereign combined. I heard Fett's Vette for the first time in ninth grade and thought it was absolutely fantastic but I didn't follow up. Now that I have, my friends are worried and my brain is a scramble. I have trouble locating words in this mess of synapses. But the rhymes and the lines. Fantastic.
I know. It's unhealthy. But do trust me. This storm will subside eventually.
Moving on! I bought a ticket to go back to Pennsylvania for Spring Break (and beyond). Dad, if you don't know about it at the time of reading this, just rest assured that mom will get in touch with you. I'm super-duper excited. It's been so long since I was home and there are a lot of people I've gotten back in touch with recently who I'm curious to see after close to three years.
HEY. Also, here's a birthday shout out to our very own MIAAAAAAA. Happy twenty-first. Now you can do everything except get senior citizen discounts. To tie this post together, here is a birthday rap by Hesh Hepplewhite of Sealab 2021, voiced by mc chris. Not there. Here.
And here's another video. I just uploaded this because it's probably my favorite moment in QI history. HAVE A NUT.
