ALRIGHT ALRIGHT ALRIGHT! APs are over and done with and you know what that means? Yes, fine people, it means that most of my academic responsibilities for this year have come to an end. For AP Japanese, all that remains are a few easy projects. In European History, we will be kicking off the ASIJ Mini European Film Festival and in Art, after finishing or avoiding the terrible mural that the Art Club was meant to complete, we will be designing and printing t-shirts or creating installation art.
I proposed that, since anyone who attempts a senior prank will be expelled (long story, stupid reasons), the seniors of the AP Art class of 2007 should get a decoration project approved by the administration and do it to make the hallways more enjoyable as the end of school approaches. The idea of making Mario blocks and coins down the hallways was well received by the members of my class, as was the idea to draw mustaches and facial hair onto the mirrors in the girls' bathrooms and make-up on the guys'. Something to that effect. We'll see if that goes anywhere.
The Japanese AP went pretty well aside from technical glitches and difficulties. We had to wait for almost two hours for the test to start because there were settings that apparently needed to be changed based on the problems that showed up with the Chinese exam. The entire thing was taken with a new internet based testing system, which uses the computer for reading, listening, writing and speaking. Since we were guinea pigs, our break was extended ten minutes because we couldn't figure out how to start the second half of the exam. (It was Control+Shift+?.) All the work for art was done, so we just had to put our slides into the slide sheets provided by the College Board, fill out forms and envelopes, and put it all in this big portfolio. Euro was the same as I expected. My only complaint was that everyone didn't realize that there was a third option to the first free response question on the following page. That and my hand is very tired. But guess what?! IT'S OVER and the College Board can kiss my half-yeller ass.
I've been on a movie acquiring kick and have since watched (in part or in full) Dreamgirls, Idlewild, Paprika and Hot Fuzz. Dreamgirls had good stage music scenes, but the moment they tried to make it into a musical, I puked in my mouth a little. "We are a family, like a giant tree, reaching up for the sky." UNGH. I stopped watching. It was horrible. Idlewild was really peculiar, what with prohibition era hip hop and talking roosters on hip flasks, and it didn't have all that much of a plot twenty minutes in, so I never bothered finishing it.
On the other hand, Paprika was absolutely incredible. The animation was impeccable and the entire story and concept played in really well with the surreal scenes that they were able to produce. It was very cool. I've gots the hots for the main character, Dr. Chiba. Hot Fuzz is great so far. It might not measure up to Shaun of the Dead, but that's near-impossible. It's still damn hilarious. Awesome soundtrack and there are a lot of fantastic cameos (Bill Bailey, Timothy Dalton, Jim Broadbent). Simon Pegg portraying a character who isn't a dunder-headed failure is too much for to handle. I'm melting as I type and it's making an awful mess of my keyboard.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. This movie is fantastic.
"Skid marks."
"Now who's being childish."
"There weren't any skid marks at the site of the collision!"
*snicker*
I love these guys.
I have a shamisen rehearsal tomorrow and plan to go play Ouendan 2 before hand through the DS Download service. It doesn't go on sale until the 17th, but the good people at Nintendo decided to let us have a taste a week ahead. EXCITING STUFF.
Sorry about the delay. Hope that makes up for it.
