Oh my friggin' gawd.

I just got incredibly excited about sumo.

My favourite wrestler, Kotoshu, a Bulgarian who's a hopeful for being the first European sumo wrestler to reach "ozeki" level, which is the level under "yokozuna", the highest of the bunch, was up against the yokozuna today.

The current yokozuna, Asashoryu, is a ridiculous Mongolian. Ridiculous not in a "ha ha" way but in a "wow... crazy" way. This season, he has won all of his eleven bouts and has been the champion for the last seven seasons in a row. Fourteen altogether.

He won. I jumped up and down and screamed and almost cried. It was a little frightening how worked up I got.

In any case, that exciting surprise is a good way to start a list of wonderful things that have happened recently.

The onsen was awesome. We were only there from mid-afternoon on Thursday to almost noon today, but we took full advantage of the baths. I went to the public, big ones twice on Thursday and got into the private one outside of our room once last night and again this morning. The food was wonderful (at least what my picky, gaijin diet would permit) and... yes, t'was wonderful, quick, relaxing vacation.

I also picked up some knitting needles and yarn at the 100 yen shop and finished a lovely, lumpy scarf. The reason I was there in the first place was to buy soil and pots for five hibiscus plants that mom picked up from outside of our apartment. It was a season change from hibiscus to decorative cabbage.

Um. I guess that's it.

Oh yes, and I got an episode of Arrested Development. It rocks.
