Damn it all! Italy definitely did not deserve to win. Bah bah bah. Their place in the final was the result of a bad call.

Read the previous post first and then continue with this one. Chances are you haven't read it yet.

Today was AWESOME. Other than being haunted by having no working televisions on the day of the World Cup final, it rocked a lot. Do you know why? Because it was go-to-warehouses-of-used-crap-and-assorted-items-and-stock-up-your-stash day! At noon, a group met in the lobby of the dorms and headed out on the bus towards an outlet store. At the outlet store (which was fairly normal sized), I bought two (what I believe to be) Polish comic books (20¢), ten compact CD cases (complete with discs from the 2006 usenix annual technical conference, which I will be giving to a girl for decorations; $1), a pen and nib (75¢), invisible ink for use with said pen and nib ($1), a LIFE Handbook of the Nations and International Organizations ($1) and a 2006 calendar of Frank Lloyd Wright's "masterworks," which has his paintings of twelve of his creations... and there are still five months to use! (50¢) They had everything: a giant tub of dominoes, toilet paper rolls (sans paper), used carbon-dioxide cartridges, National Geographic, wallpaper, you name it. It was a store Mia would have loved.

Half of us stopped on the way to our next destination at a fast food stop with a walk-thru window. They had the typical hamburgers, hotdogs, etc. but they also had all sorts of tofu goods, Mexican food, Asian food, and vegan soft serve. I had a veggie burrito, which was quite yum-tastic. The next place was a huge warehouse full of used things. There was furniture, clothing, books, electronics, music, movies, meat slicers, old projectors, registers, type writers, computers... I was beyond impressed. Seeing as I probably couldn't take back much more on the bus, I got a giant book of stock photos ($3), an excellent book of Australian design ($1.5), a set of nail clippers (50¢), and a UC Berkeley PreMed Honors t-shirt. I am satisfied. I just hope that the parents can pick me up. If not, I'll be sending some things home.

The anticipated despair of France's loss has been replaced with feelings of utter joy. Nee hee hee! I also got to spend more with some of the excellent people here. Alex, from illustration, was really jealous of my comic books, so I'm going to scan them in and burn them onto a disc for him. Three cheers for used shit!

(Hip hip) Horray!
