Wahoo! Fun-filled Friday night was a fabulous time. The main activity was "Keepin' It Classy," which was a classic movie night. They set up a screen and a projector on the patio outside of the lounge on my floor. For Sunset Boulevard, I stayed inside with some of my new home-peoples, watched Sarah from my graphic design class draw beautiful dresses and realize out loud that she should've signed up for fashion, listened to Alex go on and on about how great illustration is and watched Nick draw the most wonderful comic and realize that he should've been in illustration instead of drawing and painting.

FUN FACT: The illustration instructor, who is a professor at CCA during the year, is Barron Storey. You might know his work from the original cover art for Lord of the Flies. Ridiculous, eh? Their current project is, essentially, to design four characters that represent parts of your personality. And here I am trying to link writing and architecture by making typographic wallpaper inspired by models and poems that have absolutely no connection other than the one we (graphic design students) are providing unwillingly. Or should be. Damn. Half way through and we're already expected to be doing sketches/spreads for our final project. So. Much. Work.

In any case, after Sunset Boulevard was finished, many people left but a few arrived in hopes of seeing Some Like It Hot. We moved the projector and screen into the lounge and had an excellent viewing experience. Good movie. I'd never seen it before.

By the time that was done, it was almost two in the morning but a few of us hard-chargers were ready for more. About six people stayed up and watched the Fifth Element and realized at the end of it that it was far too late for us to be able to function properly the following day... or later in the same day.

With that in mind, I am meeting my lovely classmate from ASIJ, Jeannie, this morning. She's bringing a friend and we're going to see Berkeley. I should take a shower but it's still pretty early for a Saturday morning. Plus I don't want to be going out with a wet head of hair. Tonight though... I must.
